I’ve had a few people ask me what the deal is with the boots; with Ms. New Boots, to be specific. What the heck does that have to do with living your life out loud, or with motivational coaching?
Yeah, good point.
I guess I thought it was kinda self-explanatory or maybe already part of the common vernacular, so I googled “Ms. New Boots”, looking for an “I told you so” definition. Turns out I might have coined this phrase all on my own! (unless you count the inspiring tune by rap artist Bubba Sparxxx entitled “Ms New Booty” – which I don’t.)
So, here’s the thing: You know that feeling you get when you put on a new pair of shit-kicking boots? That feeling like you are ready to conquer the world because you have some kick-ass boots on your feet and you look smokin’ hot?
Or how about that feeling you get when you slide on an old-skool pair of gumboots, and you clomp around in them, just begging for a good rainfall and an even better puddle? That feeling like you are 6 years old again and you’re on top of the world?
And honestly, it goes farther than the boots. That same ass-kicking, top-of-the-world feeling can go hand-in-hand with being accepted to grad school, or landing the perfect job, or booking flights to a foreign country, or giving a killer performance, or publishing your first novel, or finally quitting that job.
It’s knowing that you’re friggin’ awesome and not being afraid to show it off a little. It’s allowing yourself to live your life out loud and let your confidence and personality shine through. It’s believing that you can do anything you put your mind and your heart to ‘cause with that combination, how could you possibly lose?
So, although Ms. New Boots is kind of a nickname I’ve given myself,as a reminder that I’m totally rad and I deserve all the awesome things in life, I also want it to be a celebration and an acknowledgement and I want it to be contagious.
